This week has been a busy one, especially for Brent, hence very few updates this week. Let’s start with the house update.
HOUSE UPDATE
The stonework has been done on the front of the house and it looks great. A new front door was also recently installed. This door will be painted black to match the shutters. On Thursday, we sanded the floor in the areas the hardwood was going to be in. Friday morning at 8 am Brent, Tim (the pastor), Scott (our builder and Deacon chairman) and Ken (church friend) started laying the hardwood in the kitchen, dining. garage entry hall and downstairs bath. The floors look wonderful but Brent’s body was not designed for such tasks! We worked Friday until 5pm to break for the Waukee football game at Des Moines East high school. The game was great! Waukee won in overtime. The ceramic tile was laid in the upstairs bathrooms as was the vinyl in the laundry room. The tile around the fileplace was also installed. They started building the deck today (Saturday) and should be done by the end of the day. If they are we will do a second post today to show this. Countertops also went in. Everything is coming together nicely and looks great. Brent has incredible taste and style to pick out such great colors! Here’s the link to the photos:

GO CYCLONES???!!!
Thursday I attended my first Iowa State University Cyclones football game. All I can say is that I am not so sure about cheering for a team that has no chance of winning. They got beat by Kent State. Now I just have to figure out a way to watch Razorback games up here in the north!
SOUTH DAKOTA HERE I COME
Tomorrow after church 22 folks (including Brent) are heading to Fort Thompson, South Dakota. We are delivering clothing we collected in a back to school clothing drive for the elementary school children of Buffalo County, SD. This is the poorest county in the USA. Our church has taken on this area as a mission project and have committed to going there again next summer to work. I can’t wait to see the kids faces when we pull out all the clothes we collected. I would think it is over 2,000 items of clothing.
