Back to the Summer Routine

Sorry for no updates recently.  It all started out with a week of Bible school, where I led the music.  I didn’t realize children’s music for VBS could be so aerobic.  Or maybe that was just me being a little hyperactive.  Great week though.  We had around 100 kids there everyday.  The program consisted of the kids singing in church on Sunday morning.  We had over 180 people in service that day.  A high since we have been here.

After VBS, we left for a week long mission trip in Crow Creek, South Dakota ministering to the Native Americans there.  I was responsible for 18 youth that went on the trip.  Each day consisted of construction projects and an afternoon of sports with the teens of the reservation.  Kerri, with the help of Danny and Maretta, made sure the mission team of 60 people stayed well fed on the trip.  Their day began at 4am and usually didn;t end until around 10 or so.  Needless to say they worked themselves very hard.  But the food was great and everyone thought so!  The kids went with us to SD.  They all enjoyed a back yard bible club every day.  They had a great time also.  But we were all glad to get home.  For a glimpse of the week, go to http://www.ashworthroad.com/media.html for some slideshows and testimonies.  There is also a VBS slideshow there.

After returning from South Dakota, we took a few days off and spent time recuperating.  It was needed.

Now we are back in the swing of the summer routine with about 5 weeks before school starts.  Each Friday, I am taking any youth that are interested on some type of activity. So far we have been to Adventureland Theme Park and swimming.  This week will be go-carts and mini gold.  Should be fun.  At the end of the month we are taking the youth to Wisconsin Dells, Wi for a trip to Noah’s Ark Water Park.  I must be crazy to take the youth on another overnighter!(Actually the youth ministry here has been great. We have an awesome group of teens.  I enjoy hanging out with them.)

Well, that about catches us up for the last several weeks.  I cant promise a daily update but I will attempt a weekly one from now on.
