Are you ready for some football?

Today was a full day.  Luke started the morning with a baseball game.  Unfortunately, his team lost again (they are 1 & 9).  Luke went 0 for 3 today, with 3 trikeouts.  he has been doing very well up to today.  He plays again tomorrow at noon.  Hopefully he will do better.  Hannah and I rode our bikes to the park (approximately 3 miles).  She did not ride home with me! Kerri had a cake and catering event today.   The kids and I went swimming in our neighborhood pool.  Luckily it is heated or I wouldn’t have even thought about getting in.  Hannah spent the evening babysitting for some friends from church.  She also watched Jaden while Kerri delivered her food.  Luke and I wrapped up the evening by attending an Iowa Barnstormers football game.  This Arena Football 2 league team was definitely one of the funnest sports we have watched since moving.  The crowd numbered around 10,000 and the place was rocking all night.  The Barnstormers lost but it was still a lot of fun.  We will definitely try to hit one of these games again before the end of the season.  Below is a picture of the football game.

It’s a Nice Day for a Bike Ride

Today was one of the nicest days we’ve had in a while. It started out on a sad note. An older lady in our church passed away Saturday night and her funeral was today. I played and led the congregational music. Kerri was asked to cater the event.

This afternoon, Kerri and I went for a kid-free bike ride. We explored additional ways for me to get to the church from the house. I’m trying to do anything I can to save money on gas. We rode about 15 miles today. Beautiful weather and Waukee, Clive and West Des Moines have some GREAT trails. Very beautiful ride.

After dinner, we rode with the kids to the ice cream shop in downtown Waukee. The kids have come to love this ride, especially the treat! They did very good. Even Jaden did well on the 3 mile roundtrip ride. Nice quiet evening after that.

Storms a-coming

Today was an average.  Kids had field day at school.  I ran video cables at church in preparation for the LCD’s to be hung next week.  This evening Kerri went to dinner with the Preschool workers and I played piano at a funeral visitation.

Tough storms are making their way through the state right now.  I see lightening as I type.

13 Years and Counting…

Today Kerri and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary.  We enjoyed a nice steak dinner and then some grocery shopping at Costco.  WOW..Who would have thought 13 would be so exciting.

Cool weather and rain here today.  Not quite used to 50 degree weather in May.  I assume it will warm up soon!

Kerri is busy this week with multiple catering events and a cake due this weekend.  She hasn’t missed a beat in the catering are since we moved.  I think she is as busy as she wants to be.

Memorial Day

Today we all took it easy. Kerri and the kids went to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and I went to see the new Indiana Jones. Their movie had to be better than mine. Indiana Jones was very disappointing. Not a good follow-up at all!

After grilling brats on the grill for dinner, Kerri and I went on an 8 mile bike ride. When we returned, the kids wanted to go, so Hannah, Luke and I went for a 4 mile ride. Jaden’s new bike he got for his birthday this month broke yesterday, so Kerri took him back to Walmart to exchange it.

Just a few days left of school. I hope Kerri is ready!

Blog Updates Forthcoming!

Starting this week, we will start updating our blog daily (or at least try to daily!)  Some will be short and sweet with little to say.  Others will include pics and let you share even more of our lives here in Iowa.

Yesterday, Luke, his friend, Ledg, Don, a friend on mine from church, and I went to watch the Iowa Cubs play at Principal Park.  We had great seats and the weather was wonderful, finally.  After that, we spent a quiet evening at home.  Ledg spent the night with Luke.  They play on the same baseball team and are in the same 2nd grade class.  They are big buds and have lots of fun together.

Storms came through last night but didn’t last too long in our area.  A tornado hit about 2.5 hours NE of us.
