Here are some pictures of our apartment. As you know, this is our home for the next three months until our house is completed.
***HOUSE UPDATE***
Framing begins tomorrow and should be completed a week from Friday. Kerri is picking siding, shutter and trim colors this week. Things are moving along!
Things have been a little busy around here the last couple of days so I’ll update the last 3 days in this post.
Tuesday – we moved into our apartment. It’s nice to be in our own space, even if it is only for 3 months. The apartment is 3 bedroom and 2 baths.
Wednesday – We had our first youth event with me in charge, a pool party at the home of one of our church members. We had 16 youth there and everyone had a great time.
Thursday – Luke had his second baseball game. Two times at bat and Luke struck out and got hit by a pitch. He did make a double play by himself. While playing first base, he caught a fly ball and then touch first base to get the runner out that had already run to second base. He was pretty proud of this. His mom however was talking with other parents and missed the whole thing.
We close on our house in Rogers tomorrow. A couple of last minute curve balls nearly crashed the deal, but fortunately we were able to work through them. All I can say is, “Show me the money!” I’m just glad we were able to sell it as quickly as we were.
Not much happening on our house in Waukee. The basement is in the same shape as the pictures posted the other day. Our builder will be back in the country on Monday. I’m sure he will get things moving when he returns.
The Deatrick’s own a Gecko. Kerri is not too fond of the lizard. In fact, it gives her the creeps! If Hannah gets close to her with it, she gets a little testy.
While the Deatricks have been in Mexico on a church mission trip, Hannah has been taking care of Godzilla. Look at her face. She keeps telling Kerri we need one of these but Kerri isn’t budging. But in my memory, Kerri was the one that LOVED having a pet RAT!!! Does anyone agree with me that there really isn’t much difference between the 2 as far as pets go?
Here is a picture of Luke batting the first time on his Iowa 7U baseball team, the Cardinals. Unfortunately, Luke didn’t do too well this evening. This league is a step backwards from Arkansas where he was used to machine pitching at about 42mph. We also got a little bit competitive in Arkansas by keeping score, something they don’t do at this age in IA. A coach lobbing the ball up to him threw him off. I’m sure he’ll catch on quickly. He has 2 games a week for the next 6 weeks.
Here is the basement being poured. The wall forms should come down tomorrow (7/10/07). Progress!
